Attend Your Next GameDev Event on TheXPlace Events!
At TheXPlace, we believe everyone should have access to opportunities to learn, connect, and grow in their careers. This is especially important in game development, because it is a team sport that calls for every teammate to play their part well! Very few people can create a game alone. Events are open to all members of TheXPlace community, regardless of age, gender, race, or experience level. They provide a space to meet potential collaborators, pick an expert’s brain, or say hello to colleagues old and new. Put yourself out there and make a name for yourself!
To join events, your basic profile must be complete. This is the best way to present yourself to the community, and helps us maintain a safe space.
Complete Your Basic Profile:
To access events, your basic profile must be complete. This easy step takes just 2-3 minutes. The basic profile allows other community members to get to know you a bit and helps create a safe space for our community. If you just signed-up, follow these 2 steps to create the basic profile:
1) Fill out the “You in a nutshell” section with your basic information and the tools and skills that you work with.
2) Verify your ID - this it’s a quick and easy process that takes just a few minutes, after which you’ll be ready to start exploring events.
If you have an account already, make sure that your User card is filled out, that your skills and tools are listed, and your identity is verified.
Your basic profile is ready when both of these are done.
That’s it, now you are all set to join Events!
Access Events!
Now that your basic profile is complete, you can join events.
Registering to attend an event is quick and easy! All you have to do is click the Events tab at the top of the platform page. The Events portal will open, featuring previews for various Events with brief descriptions. Click on an event to find out more details and to sign up to attend!. Scroll down and you will see a purple button that says “Attend this event.” Click that button to sign up to be part of the event, and we will look forward to seeing you there!
Ways you can explore an event within each Event page:
- Clicking on each event preview will open that event’s “About” page, where you can see details about the agenda, organizers, specific rules for attendance, and more.
- The “Attendees” tab shows you who has already signed up. You can click on the name of each person in attendance to open their profile and learn more about them.
To attend the Event, find the blue “Attend this Event” button underneath the “Attendees” tab, and click it to add yourself to the Event’s roster.
Keep in Mind…
Companies searching for talent may use Workshops, Contests or Game Jams to see you and your capabilities in action and form new teams . As a bonus, you can add things you’ve created at events to your portfolio. This is especially useful for newly-graduated students, professionals transitioning into the video game industry, or seasoned industry veterans who can’t post their best work because of NDAs or a recent project was shelved.
